Doechii released Alligator Bites Never Heal in 2024

Doechii released her latest mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, on August 30, 2024. The mixtape is her first since 2020's Oh the Places You'll Go. The singer talked about her new album in an exclusive interview with Buzzfeed Australia that was published on October 14, 2024. She talked about how growing up in Tampa, Florida, impacted her worldview and music.

"Everything about me and how I express myself translates into the music. But, I feel like I had such a unique experience growing up in Florida because Florida feels like its own country. It's a very chaotic place to grow up in in a good way. It's a lot going on there, but I think I had a lot of sense of community around me."

The singer continued:

"I grew up with a very grounded experience being in the country, being around a lot of nature, and having just very down-to-earth people around me that fully just embraced me—being a active hyper child—so I feel very blessed and very fortunate to have had such a free upbringing. It's the little things about Florida that I really love."

In an earlier interview with Rolling Stone magazine on September 5, 2024, the singer talked about the curation of the album, stating:

"Curating it, I went in with the intention of context. That was a big thing for me. Sometimes projects can feel long when there’s no context to what you’re talking about. There’s no story or no narration to build on. I felt like it was necessary for me to tell my story in detail and in many different ways, through many different beats."

She continued:

"And it was important for us to go in chronological order of what has happened to me, how that has made me feel, how I overcame it, and where I am now. And I don’t think we started really getting into some turnt, lit shit until towards the end of the project. That was for a reason – I felt like we needed to feel pain and we needed to hurt in the beginning."

Doechii is currently scheduled to perform at Victoria Park in London, UK, on August 23, 2025, as part of the All Points East event, which is also set to feature RAYE. The show is currently her only 2025 show, with the singer having wrapped up her 2024 tour in support of her album in November.
