Disney+ has just dropped a fresh glimpse of Diego Luna as Cassian Andor in Andor Season 2. This new footage was included in the streaming service’s What If Super Bowl LIX ad, which imagines alternate realities where some of the biggest entertainment and sports moments never happened.

Fortunately for Star Wars fans, Andor did happen, and its second and final season is set to premiere on April 22, 2025.

While fans eagerly await a full-length trailer, this latest tease has reignited excitement for the return of the beloved Rogue One prequel series. Even though we already know Cassian Andor’s tragic fate in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, there’s still so much to explore about his journey in the fight against the Empire.

What to expect from season 2

Since its debut in 2022, Andor has been widely praised as one of the best Star Wars projects on Disney+. Unlike other series set in the galaxy far, far away, Andor takes a grounded, gritty approach to storytelling. Created by Tony Gilroy, the show dives deep into the political turmoil of the Rebellion, portraying the rise of a hero who was once just a thief trying to survive.

The first season followed Cassian Andor’s early years before the events of Rogue One. It showed his struggles under Imperial rule, the mistakes he made, and the sacrifices he endured. By the end of Season 1, Cassian had lost his adoptive mother and barely escaped an Imperial prison, setting the stage for his transformation into the Rebel leader we know.

With the second season set to premiere more than two years after the first, Andor Season 2 will take Cassian even closer to the events of Rogue One. This final chapter will likely showcase how he fully commits to the Rebellion, leading into his fateful mission alongside Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) to steal the Death Star plans.

Between Andor’s two seasons, Lucasfilm has released other major Star Wars shows, including The Mandalorian Season 3 and Ahsoka. While the franchise has shifted its focus to television since The Rise of Skywalker, Andor has proven that deep, character-driven storytelling can thrive in the Star Wars universe.

With just over two months until its return, fans are eagerly waiting for more footage. Will Disney drop a full trailer soon? Only time will tell, but if the latest sneak peek is anything to go by, Andor Season 2 is shaping up to be an epic conclusion to Cassian’s journey.
