Selena Gomez is making the headlines as news of her unfollowing her long-time friend and former assistant, Theresa Marie Mingus, has gone viral on social media.
The issue has been fueled by screenshots that are circulating online. A few netizens reportedly claimed that this followed after Gomez’s fiancé, Benny Blanco, was spotted dining with her friend, who is also an adult content creator. However, it is pure speculation at this point.
In another post on X (formerly Twitter), shared by a user, @selenagchart on April 29, 2025, it was claimed that Gomez unfollowed Mingus because Blanco subscribed to Mingus’s adult social media platform’s account. However, no credible reports support such claims made on the internet.
According to the screenshots taken from Gomez’s and Blanco’s Instagram accounts, it is confirmed that the I Said I Love You First singer did unfollow Mingus on Instagram. However, her soon-to-be husband continues to follow her.

While Gomez might not follow her friend on Instagram, she still follows Mingus' business page, La’mariette on Instagram.

This indicates that she is setting personal boundaries or distancing herself from Mingus on a personal level.
Mingus was recently seen attending Blanco’s birthday celebration hosted by Gomez in March 2025. Here is what we know.

As per a report in Style magazine, Theresa Marie Mingus recently attended Benny Blanco’s birthday party, which was hosted by Selena Gomez on March 8, 2025.
Mingus shared a few photographs from the event on her Instagram, where she posed for the pictures with her longtime pal, who wore a pink strapless Oscar de la Renta dress. The report noted that the two have maintained a close friendship since 2014.
Celebrating her friendship with Mingus, the 32-year-old singer shared an Instagram post in April 2019, where she shared a black and white picture with Mingus holding her close. The caption read:
“I met Theresa 5 years ago. We worked together and became best friends. She has taught me how to see life in a fun, carefree and uplifting way. She has shown me how to be a strong and fearless woman. She is beautiful, kind and smart. I saw how capable she was of achieving her dreams. I wanted nothing more than to see her pursue them and soar.”
She added:
“And here you are making it happen T. I love you and I am so proud of you.”
According to Mingus’ LinkedIn profile, she is the co-founder at La’Mariette, a swimwear line, in Los Angeles, California, since August 2020. Her bio further stated that before this, she was the founder and creative director at KRAHS, another swimwear brand. She launched the brand in 2019 with her partner, Morgan Brutocao, but things didn’t go well. She said in an interview with Elle magazine in 2020:
“We launched a bikini brand and we weren’t really happy with it. It wasn’t me, it wasn’t my dream bikini brand.”
Between May 2014 and August 2018, Mingus worked as Gomez’s Executive Assistant, and between 2011-2013, she worked as a Personal/Executive Assistant for Kim Kardashian. In 2011, she worked with the founder of the PussyCat Dolls, Robin Antin.
