Death Of A Unicorn: Release date, plot, cast and more about the upcoming horror comedy starring Paul Rudd

Paul Rudd will soon be back on the big screens with his upcoming horror comedy film, Death Of A Unicorn, which is set for a theatrical premiere in the United States this March 28, 2025. Wednesday star, Jenna Ortega, will also be a part of the cast with Alex Scharfman to helm the project.

The plot revolves around a man and his daughter, played by Rudd and Ortega respectively, whose lives are turned upside down when they stumble upon and accidentally kill a mysterious mythological creature—a unicorn. As per IMDB, the official synopsis of the movie reads:

"Father-Daughter duo Riley and Elliot hit a unicorn with their car and bring it to the wilderness retreat of a mega-wealthy pharmaceutical CEO."

Paul Rudd's upcoming film, Death Of A Unicorn, will hit the US theatres on March 28, 2025. A24, known for its streak with hits like Hereditary and Everything Everywhere All at Once, is currently holding distribution rights for Death Of A Unicorn in the US. However, the movie will have its early screening at the South by Southwest Film Festival which is scheduled to be held from March 7 to March 15, 2025.

What do we know about the plot of Death Of A Unicorn?

Death Of A Unicorn centers on a father and his daughter (Elliot and Ridley respectively) who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn with their car while on the way to a management summit retreat with Ellito's boss, Dell Leopold. The creature initially seemed to be ordinary but soon turned out to be something more mysterious and mythological.

Stunned by the unicorn's healing powers, Dell Leopold and his associates take control of the situation. They start researching the curative side of the mythical creature and do experiments on it, thinking of how much money they can make out of it.

However, they just invite danger in doing so. Soon enough, other members of the unicorn's herd appear at the scene and start interrupting the deadly experiments. Anyone who seems involved in the exploitation of the poor animal gets killed by its mates.

Who is in the cast of Death Of A Unicorn?

Paul Rudd, well-known for his part as Scott Lang in Marvel's Antman, will lead the cast of Death Of A Unicorn as Elliott. Rudd, who is an Emmy Award nominee, has done notable work in several projects namely Friends, Clueless, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy, and Knocked Up.

For the upcoming horror comedy, he is being joined by Golden Globe-nominated actress, Jenna Ortega as Ridley, Elliot's daughter who, in recent years, has gained much popularity owing to Netflix's horror-comedy show, Wednesday.
