The band released their last studio album, Danzig Sings Elvis, on April 17, 2020. The album consisted of covers of Elvis Presley songs and received mixed reviews upon release.
Glen Danzig talked about the influence of the band over the alternative culture and how he felt about it in an interview that appeared on Metal Hammer Issue 245:
"It seems that way. Really I just did this stuff and dressed the way I dressed because I hated what was out there. Then and now. And eventually people related to it. People like me. That’s why I started in music or why I started a comic company – for people like me who want to see crazy-a** stuff.
"I make music for people not being serviced by the mainstream intelligentsia. If it’s a band like My Chemical Romance or AFI telling me, ‘Man, you were the biggest influence’ then it’s heartfelt, that’s cool. But there are bands who don’t know my work and their manager tells them to wear the shirt because they’ll look good… it’s insincere."
He later went on to state that he did not care for the modern faux-goth bands:
"I look at them and I don’t care. Elvis had attitude and personality – and so did Iron Maiden and Danzig. Put today’s bands in front of me and I wouldn’t know who the f**k they are. Even MTV doesn’t play videos anymore.”
Band guitarist Tommy Victor talked about the stress he felt playing for the band back in 2023 in an interview with Decibel magazine on October 2, 2023:
"Glenn, he trusts me in a lot of ways. It was hard for me because there’s a lot of solos on that record. There’s a lot of John Christ solos on that record and he’s impossible to emulate. I still am scared. The Danzig fans are very harsh on me anyhow, but it was scary going out and playing these.”
The band is best known for their third self-titled studio album, Danzig III: How the Gods Kill, released on July 14, 1992. The album featured themes of self-knowledge and understanding of God.
