Con Mum is about Graham Hornigold, who is a successful pastry chef in London, United Kingdom, and one of the founders of Longboys Doughnuts. He has also appeared as a judge on cooking reality television shows like Top Chef and Junior Bake Off. In the documentary, Hornigold recalls how he was duped by a woman. He has never known or met his real-life mother.

In 2020, he received an email from a lady named Dionne, claiming to be his biological mom. He was excited to meet his mother. But that woman turned out to be a scamster who ended up duping Hornigold for over £100,000. Before the reveal, Dionne told him that he was taken away from her when he was just two years old. The two bond over drinks at a lavish penthouse in Liverpool. But slowly, Hornigold realizes that she is not his real mother.

Netflix has described the documentary as:

“New True crime story. Millionaire, Manipulator, Mum? Is Senior citizen Dionne looking for her long lost son, or simply trying to pull off the monster of all deceptions."

The documentary features interviews with the chef, along with his family, former partner, and friends, who give a clear picture of the entire ordeal. Some people were scammed by the same person who was featured in Con Mum. The makers have released a two-minute and 21-second-long trailer that introduces us to the main subject. He then unravels his real experience of trying to find his real mother and falling prey to a scamster.

Along with Con Mum, Netflix is also releasing a slate of other documentaries in March, including American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden, Chaos: The Manson Murders, and Katrina: Come Hell or High Water.
