Perfection is a myth, but a myth can be perfected. Christopher Nolan appears to be doing just that with The Odyssey. If the recent reports are any indication, Odysseus will host a brief Greek barbecue party on the island of Favignana, commonly known as the goat island.

Variety recently reported that a part of the film is being shot in the region where it is believed Odysseus threw a goat barbeque to stock up for his journey. The shoot on the location is likely to begin in a couple of months.

Recently, we got to see a set construction for his upcoming movie in Morocco while the United Kindom serves as another location for shoots.

There's a place called Ponza that locals believe served as the ground for where sorceress Circe bewitched Odysseus. As per legend, he lived with her for a year and even had sons. Homer mentions her isle as Eae in the poem. The Odyssey is said to feature Circe so the possibility of this particular event is likely on the cards.

Homer's poem also mentions sirens, creatures described as half birds and half humans. A couple of them were whom Odysseus encountered on an island between Aeaea and the rocks of Scylla.

He dealt with the sirens by tying them to a mast while asking his companions to cover their ears to prevent them from listening to songs these creatures used to lure sailors. All this likely happened on the island of Ventotene.

Another interesting incident that fans would like to see in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey happens somewhere in the Strait of Messina. Here, the crew had to deal with an octopus-like sea monster, Scylla.

It may sound like a Kraken but it's a different entity. However, this event may not end up in the film given the director's history of realistic storytelling.

But, The Odyssey will reportedly include Odysseus' encounters with Poseidon, Athena, and Zeus so we can expect a slight fantastical flair to it. Other characters to appear in the film include Penelope, Telemachus, Antinous, and more. Though who is playing who is still under wraps.

For now, the confirmed members of the cast include Tom Holland, Zendaya, Matt Damon, Lupita Nyong'o, Jon Bernthal, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, and Robert Pattinson. Another thing with context to things confirmed would be the release, which is slated to hit theatres on July 17, 2025.
