According to Deadline, after the decent box office performance of the film, it is now getting a sequel.

Writer and director Chris Sanders has confirmed that he will return to work on the next installment. All other information about the new film remains silent. There are so many projects DreamWorks Animation is working on that it might take some time before this company returns to work on the same story.

We will just have to wait and see when audiences will be able to welcome the characters inspired by Peter Brown's book back into their hearts.

Jumping to the possibility of returning for a sequel, Sanders stated that he would love to revisit this universe with a possible sequel for the film The Wild Robot.

“I would very much like to. I think the entire crew really, really involved themselves in this film in a way that I’ve never seen before, myself included. This was a labor of love on the part of everybody at the studio, and yes, I think I’d love to go and stay here for a while.”

The Wild Robot opened in cinemas on September 27. Lupita Nyong'o voices Roz, a robot who washes up on a deserted island after a shipwreck. On the island, Roz discovers an egg from which an orphaned gosling named Brightbill (Kit Connor) eventually hatches.

The gosling imprints on the robot and treats her like its mother. Roz and Brightbill quickly bond, but it's harder to adjust when the island's wildlife is less than welcoming: a cunning fox, Fink (Pedro Pascal), is just the beginning.

According to When to Stream, the film will be released on digital streaming via AppleTV+ and VUDU on October 18. Universal Pictures has not officially announced the release date, so it is subject to change.

The film can be pre-ordered now for $29.99, the digital price, via AppleTV+ and VUDU.
