Chase Lawrence, the band member of the Nashville-based pop-rock band COIN, announced on January 28, 2025 that he is parting ways with his members, Ryan Winnen and Joe Memmel, following allegations against them.

Lawrence shared the heartbreaking news on the band’s official Instagram account and wrote:

“I have recently become aware of revelations around my bandmates and want to share some thoughts directly with all of you. I believe in accountability and doing what’s right.” He mentioned that three months ago he moved forward without his drummer and now he has broken up with his guitarist.
“Their behaviors directly conflict with my values, and I am devastated for anyone who has been affected by these actions.” He added.

He further apologized to listeners and fans, saying:

I am sorry for the disappointment this may bring. Your support has meant the world to me, and I owe it to you to be honest and decisive in addressing this situation.

Fans were shocked to learn about the COIN's disbanding and took to social media to express themselves.

While Lawrence did not divulge details on his band members' behaviors in his post, netizens on Reddit alleged that one of the members was inappropriate with an underage fan online.

One fan wrote, “Bro Chase can’t babysit his band mates.”

The Reddit user shared a tweet as evidence that allegedly showed Joe following some girls on Instagram.

“Poor chase man. Dude is probably in shock and depressed. You can’t blame him. He’s just as, if not more hurt, than we are. He’s probably wondering what to do with the band. Disband them and go solo or keep going with new members.” A user on Reddit wrote.

“Until theres factual proof and someone is in jail/charged, I'm not jumping to conclusions that this is the 100% the case. Again, I'm not defending the act of messaging minors or pursing illegal acts with them. What I'm saying is - we need full proof and evidence, before the people as fans, make a judgement call. Until then, I will wait for further proof.” A fifth commented.

COIN was formed in 2012 by Chase Lawrence, Ryan Winnen, and Joe Memmel, and bassist Zachary Dyke, who left the group in 2018 to pursue a solo career.

They gained recognition with hits like Run and Talk Too Much, contributing to their success with multiple albums, including How Will You Know If You Never Try (2017) and Uncanny Valley (2022). The disbandment marks a significant transition in their career, as they had built a considerable fan following over the years.
