Although "Brat Summer" has officially come to an end, Charli XCX is staking her claim as a true artistic Swiss Army knife in the latest news. However, surprisingly enough, the new announcement has nothing to do with her budding discography.
According to sources, the “Guess” singer is slated to star in an upcoming A24 film based on a concept she came up with herself. A24, the studio behind Everything Everywhere All At Once, Uncut Gems, Moonlight, and Euphoria, to name a few, has recently green-lit the project titled The Moment and has fans and press clamoring for whatever snippets of information they can get as many details remain under wraps.
Charli XCX set for Hollywood takeover with team of Avengers by her side?
What is known is that A24 has made an indelible mark on the industry by providing its visionaries with the necessary space to give voice to their narratives in whatever unique way speaks to their creative process.
This bodes well for Aidan Zamiri, the fledgling director at the helm of the project, who also brought the screenplay to life alongside Bertie Brandes. The Moment will serve as the debut project from her Studio365 production company, while PC Music’s A.G. Cook will be tasked with composing the score.
In recent weeks, Charlie XCX has been on an absolute tear on social media and in the press with a sequence of movie reveals that have fans eagerly anticipating what’s next for Charli. Beyond The Moment, the English songwriter announced several ongoing projects, including songwriting and producing music with Jack Antonoff for A24’s Mother Mary.
Jack Antonoff is famously known for being a key contributor to a host of Taylor Swift’s mainstream hits, as well as credits extending to Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Charli is also set to be a part of several other projects, including an undisclosed role in Gregg Araki’s erotic thriller I Want Your Sex, in which she will team up with co-stars Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman. Filming for the project has wrapped up, but there is no firm release date yet.
She will also be appearing in the horror remake of Faces of Death alongside Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira and Dacre Montgomery, best known for his role as Billy on Netflix’s cultural phenomenon, Stranger Things.
While fans eagerly anticipate more concrete news on when these projects will hit the screens, one thing is for sure: Charli XCX is the creative genius that keeps giving, and we can't wait for what she has in store!
