The 1990 American epic crime film The Godfather Part III is produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola from the script co-written with Mario Puzo. It is a sequel to The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather Part II (1974).
It is the conclusion of the fictional tale of Michael Corleone, the patriarch of the Corleone family who tries to justify his criminal empire. Additionally, two real-life events—the 1978 death of Pope John Paul I and the 1981–1982 papal banking scandal—that are connected to Michael Corleone's economic dealings are dramatized in the movie.
