Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released on February 14, 2025, and fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are excitedly waiting for the next installment of the Captain America saga.
The film has been directed by Julius Onah and has been written by Malcolm Spellman along with Dalan Musson and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore.
This next theatrical installment of the MCU, Captain America: Brave New World, follows Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson as he fully and finally embraces the Captain America mantle given to him by Steve Rogers all the way back in Avengers: Endgame.
Along with the film being set up with a titillating plotline circling around politics, schemes, and threats that have a global level of reach, the film accomplishes itself with a notable cast!
Cast and Character guide to Captain America: Brave New World:
1) Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Captain America:
After finally embracing the Captain America shield left to him by Steve Rogers, Anthony Mackie makes a comeback as Sam Wilson. With his debut in Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier as The Falcon, Wilson has come a long way from joining the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (The Avengers) to actually becoming Captain America himself.
The tussles and wins he’s had while fully embracing Captain America have been previously shown in Marvel’s second Disney+ show, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Contrasting to Steve Rogers’s Captain America, Sam Wilson’s Captain America does not hold the benefit of having the Super Serum injected into him. This means he does not have super strength, and this is what makes Mackie’s Captain America quite a distinctive character in his upcoming film, Captain America: Brave New World.
Sam Wilson’s vulnerabilities, resilience, and confidence while strategizing are what make his character grounded and an absorbing experience to see on the screen. In Captain America: Brave New World, Wilson confronts his most perplexing assignment yet, discovering an ominous and threatening global crisis attached to the freshly selected President of the United States—President Thaddeus Ross.
2) Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross
The MCU’s Thaddeus, a.k.a. Thunderbolt Ross and now The Red Hulk, gets a new face played by Harrison Ford due to the sad demise of William Hurt, who previously played Thaddeus. Ford takes up this role with a grave gravity that can be experienced through the trailers of Captain America: Brave New World.
With his debut back in the day with Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk, Ross has always been a discordant character who symbolized influence and dominance. With his newfound role as the President of the United States, these qualities that he has might only continue to grow further.
The intense links between Thaddeus Ross and Sam Wilson guarantee rigidity, as their past clashes during Captain America: Civil War re-emerge. While Ross’s motivations remain uncertain, it does appear that he tries to seek out Wilson’s assistance. However, moments later, indications of disagreement between the two hints at a distressed relationship.
3) Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres / Falcon
Danny Ramirez is returning back as Joaquín Torres in Captain America: Brave New World as a faithful confederate of Sam Wilson with his debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. As a US Air Force officer, Torres has given out immense support to Sam. In the Marvel Comics, Torres ends up picking up the mantle of The Falcon.
Torres’s solidarity with Wilson expands as the two of them work hand in hand to rip to shreds all the terrorizations and pressures being thrown their way. Torres’s fortitude makes him an instrumental asset in Captain America: Brave New World, establishing an encouraging future moving forward within the MCU.
4) Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley
Back at it again to depict the character of Isaiah Bradley, Carl Lumbly brings forth complexity and profundity to the role. With his debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Isaiah Bradley is a war veteran who is exposed to unprincipled experimentations that comprised the Super Soldier Serum. His distressing backstory throws light on the systemic prejudices and its long-term impacts.
In Captain America: Brave New World, Isaiah Bradley’s character inflates, digging into his prolonged trauma. His multifaceted relationship with the mantle of Captain America, which has been explored previously in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, could add a poignant layer to the film.
5) Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns / The Leader
After the absence of Tim Blake Nelson in the MCU for the longest time ever, he finally makes a comeback as The Leader in Captain America: Brave New World. Blake’s last appearance in the MCU was in The Incredible Hulk, where his makeover as the infamous brainy rogue The Leader was teased but never looked into up until now.
As one of Captain America’s rivals in Captain America: Brave New World, The Leader’s brainpower mixed along with his menacing conspiracies establishes a noteworthy threat.
Other supporting cast members include:
1) Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph / Sabra
Marking her MCU debut in Captain America: Brave New World is actor Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph, a.k.a. Sabra in the Marvel Comics.
2) Liv Tyler as Betty Ross
From her debut in The Incredible Hulk, Liv Tyler takes a hold of her role as Dr. Betty Ross once again, who is a former love interest of Bruce Banner and the daughter of Thaddeus Ross.
Captain America: Brave New World is gearing up to be the next film in phase 5 of the MCU. Alongside Sam Wilson’s ride as Captain America and an incredible list of promising cast members, Captain America: Brave New World is bound to guarantee an ambitious mixture of action, politics, and conspiracy. As the clock ticks, the MCU fandom cannot wait for the next installment of Marvel’s newest film!
