It is initially believed that the file contains confidential information maintained by the CIA- something that can potentially control government officials. Avery learns from Nathan Evans, the deputy director of the CIA, that if the file's contents are leaked, it can compromise the position and credibility of a number of important individuals.

But as Avery continues her mission to unearth the truth about the file, she learns that it is much more than just a list. The file is rather a digital weapon - a virus created by the CIA itself that can potentially take down global digital infrastructure in a day.

The use of the virus can dismantle worldwide internet connections and cause chaos. Thus, Avery's personal mission of saving her husband now turns into a bigger picture of protecting the whole world against the deadly Canary Black virus.

Avery fights against the terrorist group of Konrad Breznov - the one responsible for kidnapping her husband David. But as the plot unravels, it is revealed that David is not the victim of conspiracy, but the one behind its orchestration. He is an assassin named Kali.

He stages the whole incident to make it look like an abduction and lures Avery to steal the Canary Black file. David justifies himself by saying that he is involved with a dangerous Russian mob and plans to sell the virus to clear his debt.

Avery is deeply affected by his betrayal and even though David claims he still loves her, the damage caused is beyond repair. He tries to use his wife to fulfill his purpose. As a result, Avery's trust is broken and their relationship is shattered.

Konrad Breznov not only wants to have financial gains but also wants to disrupt the world order. He aims at opposing influential superpowers like the United States and using the virus as leverage to control geopolitical dynamics.

As Konrad tries to execute his master plan, Avery intervenes and is finally able to stop the virus from being globally unleashed. She saves the world but loses trust in her husband. As she battles her emotional state of mind, MC6 is introduced in the movie.

It is a covert organization created to tackle the worldwide turmoil created by the Canary Black virus. After the defeat of Breznov, Avery is arrested by the CIA, and Deputy Director Ethans tags her as a potential national threat. Meanwhile, a new character named Elizabeth is introduced who recognizes Avery's good work and offers her a position in the MC6 in exchange for her freedom.

The movie ends on an open note as Avery is left to choose between joining the group and accepting imprisonment. It further leaves the chance for a sequel where fans may see her returning, to fight off new global threats.
