The last time a film was nominated for five Screen Actors Guild awards, it was the story of two friends in The Banshees of Inisherin. It's happening again with Wicked, as it landed the same number of nominations there. It's the sixth film to achieve this feat and then it will be the Academy Awards in March 2025, which the creators would be looking forward to.

In this rare club, Everything Everywhere All at Once stands atop with four wins, followed by Chicago which scored three wins, Shakespear in Love landed two, Doubt stood at one, and then there's The Banshees of Inisherin, whose creators had to satisfy with the nominations only.

Now it remains to see which of them will be paired, or we will get a new one with all the five wins; that would be the only feat and not rare then until it's broken. Given that, it's then the Oscars where Wicked would be judged for good.

Where does Wicked stand on the Oscars stage?

The voting for the Academy Awards nomination was delayed following the catastrophe in Los Angeles recently but we know who is going to be there in different categories. To that end, the Jon M. Chu film is among the top contenders in different categories, including visual effects, makeup and hairstyling, original score, and more.

Now, interestingly, only The Banshees of Inisherin and Doubt failed to take an Oscar home; others were quite successful. While Chicago swiped six of them, Everything Everywhere All at Once and Shakespear in Love won seven each. That's 60% Academy potential spotted in the rare SAG club.

But that's not enough, as the film's contenders have already showcased their worth for the Academy Awards stage. Brady Corbet's The Brutalist is getting much attention, with Adrien Brody again looking at the Best Actor's award but Timothée Chalamet is there too for A Complete Unknown.

So that's not a problem, as Cynthia Erivo will be competing against Demi Moore for The Substance, Mikey Madison for Anora, and more. Pamela Anderson is said to have given the performance of a lifetime, so we have her there too.

Of course, there's no Best Actor nomination for the Jon M. Chu film, but there's Ariana Grande for the Best Supporting Actress; she can bind a spell for sure.

What are the chances of Wicked winning an Oscar?

Musicals are great, and they are Oscar-worthy for sure, history can tell. It is evident if we see the information databases like IMDb, where even some of the few in this category took home Oscars with them throughout the years.

Taking that into account, 11 of 132 titles have won the Best Picture award, 1929's The Broadway Melody holds the lowest score among the winners and The Sound of Music is the highest. People love a good story through dance and music, and Wicked certainly has that in it.

Even Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, who played Elphaba and Galinda, respectively, on Wicked's Broadway version, were stunned upon seeing the film. It is one movie that certainly can take a viewer's breath away; now we will see if it can take an Oscar away.
