Can Loki turn into Avenger Prime in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Speculations explored

Who knew that Loki would become the most important character in the history of Marvel, Avenger Prime? He surely fits with the vision of where the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is currently heading—a multiversal war. The MCU version of Loki (from the Prime Earth), which Tom Hiddleston plays, by the way, is currently holding together numerous timelines to form a tree-like structure.

The Multiverse Saga will end in just over a couple of years, and there won't be a better time to give Loki his ultimate form, who again becomes the reason for the Avengers to assemble, only this time it will be on a multiversal level. So yeah, Loki can become the Avenger Prime if the MCU creators want him to.

Everything is perfectly aligned here: Doctor Doom, the repentance, and, of course, the God of Mischief himself. Interestingly, Loki's ultimate variant came just around the time Loki was having his redemption arc; coincidence?

Who is Avenger Prime?

Let's clear the air of confusion first here. There are a couple of dudes going by the same name. The first one appeared in 2014 in Mighty Avengers #14. He is basically the culmination of superheroes merged into one super being to defeat another super being called Deathwalker. The second version went into full swing in 2022 with Avengers Assemble #1; this is Loki but from Earth-18201.

So this repentant variant of Loki basically had everything the initial MCU version of Loki wanted: his brother was gone, and he got to rule Asgard. Happy ending! Not really. His life was empty, so he sought counsel from Lokis from the multiverse. That's a long story, but he realized that Lokis are basically the reason Avengers needed to come together. And then he committed suicide.

This is actually the beginning of Avenger Prime. Similar was the case with the MCU version of Loki. Though he didn't commit suicide, he was pruned instead. When he was pruned, we thought all was lost, but no, we were introduced to the Void, where a purple, not-so-good-boi cloud is hell-bent on devouring anything that comes into his path. The comic book version didn't find himself in the Void but in a place called God Quarry.

Avenger Prime then led a team of Avengers (that includes members from the prehistoric era) against an army of Dooms. One interesting thing here is that we get to see an Avengers Mountain, not just Tower. Something like that would suit the MCU in the days to come.

We have some wild fan theories regarding this but this one coming from a subreddit called r/loki gives us how it's all a buildup by the MCU, leading Loki to become the Avenger Prime.

That's a lot to take in, but give it a read, and you'll see everything connects just perfectly. And he is right, MCU's greatest hero is now going to be the greatest villain. If that happens, the greatest MCU villain (yeah, Thanos is good, but Loki's the best) should end up becoming the greatest hero in this universe.

The comic book's Avenger Prime cleared one thing.

"You cannot have the Avengers without a Loki to bring them together."

Now it's time the MCU version does that, too.
