Caddo Lake is about two protagonists, Paris (Dylan O'Brien) and Ellie (Eliza Scanlen), who live on the huge Caddo Lake. Paris is still trying to get his life together after the unexpected death of his mother. She had some kind of seizure while driving him over a bridge. Ellie is a student whose stepsister Anna (Caroline Falk) never returned from a dinner at her family's house. In short, Anna gets lost in time without any trace.
Initially, it is unknown how Paris is connected to Ellie, but they both find a mysterious area in the lake. The mysterious area connects them to extinct creatures and other strange sounds. They find out that this lake area is some sort of gateway through which people and animals travel through time. Both these individuals can find their answers with their newly found portal.

What is the surprising twist in Caddo Lake?
Crossing the barrier, Anna was injured and, before dying from her injuries, was found by Paris, who had just emerged from his barrier. Paris took Anna through the time barrier and appeared in 1952. He ensured she was safe and returned through the portal, leaving Anna behind.
Anna grows up and leads a normal life, giving birth to a son named Paris. She later died in 1999 when she had a time-travel-induced seizure and drove her car off a bridge.
In 2003, before going through the time portal, Paris had an affair with Celeste, unaware that he had impregnated her. He travels forward in time through the portal to 2022, where Anna has just disappeared, and the hunt is still on.
He tries to return through the portal himself but drowns in the water. Ellie returns through the portal to 2003 and travels back to the present, where she discovers that the missing father she has been searching for is Paris.
Ellie's mother, Celeste, is convinced that Paris has run away with someone else. According to her, she argued with an unknown woman while she was pregnant with Ellie. Anna happens to be Ellie's grandmother and the mother of Ellie's father.
