Bring Her Back: Release date news, cast details and more about A24'S upcoming horror film

Bring Her Back is the latest offering from A24 in the horror realm. It is directed by the Australian filmmaking twins Danny and Michael Philippou who had earlier helmed the critically acclaimed horror Talk to Me.

The official synopsis of the film is:

A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.

Danny has written the film with Bill Hinzman while the producers include Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton. A24 is known for maintaining its quality when it comes to horror so fans of this genre are reportedly looking forward to Bring Her Back. Here are all the important aspects of the film.

Bring Her Back is the latest directorial work of the Philllippou brothers who are known for their horror comedy videos on YouTube. The film revolves around a brother and a sister who are living in the remotely located house of their foster mother. They have just moved in and slowly discover a demonic ritual in the vicinity. It is the second collaboration between the Phillippou and A24 after Talk to Me.


Who is starring in Bring Her Back?

The film features some talented and interesting actors. English actress Sally Hawkins in the lead role. She might be playing the role of the foster mother who is grieving and dealing with a recent personal loss. Hawkins had recently appeared as Mrs. Wonka in the 2023 musical fantasy film Wonka.

The official teaser video of the film, which runs for one minute and four seconds, starts off with a kitten eating food from a bowl. It then starts following a sound and the text on the screen morphs from 'Talk to Me' to 'Let Me Out.' Subsequently, the text reads, Let Me Die, Let Her Die' as we see some scary visuals and sounds from the film. The video ends with someone screaming, 'he is gonna bring her back.' The makers manage to give chills and generate excitement without spoiling the story for the viewers.

In July 2024, Variety reported that the filmmaking duo will be shooting the film in Adelaide, Australia. They released a statement which read,

“We love that we get to be in Adelaide to make our next film, we feel so at home here – it’s where we feel most comfortable and inspired, and we want to be making movies here for a long time."

Andrea Michaels, who is the state Minister for the Arts of Australia, welcomed the duo for the shooting.

“It’s fantastic to welcome Danny and Michael back to Adelaide to shoot their second film. These two are enormously talented and a credit to South Australia."
