Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy ending explained: Does Bridget end up with Roxster?

If it wasn't for her boyfriend turned husband, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy wouldn't have happened. We already had a perfect trilogy in place but the creators had to do the fourth one. It was great, and the audience appeared to enjoy it.

After three films, Colin Firth's character goes to Sudan and filmmakers decided to blow him off in a blast so Bridget (Renee Zellweger) could walk the path down to explore new love interests. This time it's a decades-old young boy Roxster (Leo Woodall) and her children's school teacher Scott Walliker (Chiwetel Ejiofor).

Interestingly, she clicks with Roxster and love blooms, until the boy in man's appearance chickens out and ghosts her. What should be her newfound love never ends up being with her. But she needs to thank him, or the universe, who gave way to what was originally her destiny.

Roxster failed in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy as he planned it, artfully

Turns out that Roxster was a sweet poison in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. He was sweet but toxic, as we see in the movie. This relationship was doomed for failure from the very beginning, as it wasn't natural.

You see, Roxster sets up a Tinder profile with the help of his colleague specifically so that he can match with the lady on the dating app; it worked. And love sparked (at least it appeared that way) and they began taking this wagon ahead together in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.

One of her kids, Mabel (Mila Jankovic), even labels him as his daddy; that's just the right amount of convincing that Roxster is finally going to fill Bridget's life with happiness again. But just wait.

While it seems like he wasn't bothered by her age, he spills the beans that tell her the age difference did bother him, and then he ghosted her. It's alright, a bit of time passes and then one day, out of nowhere, the ghost appears again.

Now the chickened-out manboy is all set to take the relationship further. He again spills the beans as to why he ghosted her. But she is a woman, and she turns down his proposal. All is lost for him, but she found something better.

Bridget then ends up being mad about the man, naturally

While Roxster sort of orchestrated his being with Bridget, Mr. Walliker was there without knowledge that he would be the one ending up with the widowed lady. Billy played a huge role in bringing them together. While Mabel thought of Roxster as Daddy. But Billy? Not really.

He is still grieving Mark's death in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, which Walliker notices. The boy later opens up to his teacher about his fear of forgetting his dad. To this, Walliker does something to immortalize Mark for Billy. He made him sing the song Billy's dad used to sing (no, not forcefully).

This remains the turning point in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy and begins the love sprouting. Even though their thoughts differ about the universe and energies, they eventually come together when they share their beliefs. Eventually, he confesses his feelings for her, which she accepts.

A year later, both are together at the end of the movie, closing the chapter (hopefully) for good.
