Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is the latest entry in the popular Bridget Jones franchise, directed by Michael Morris. The romantic comedy film is a sequel to the 2016 film Bridget Jones's Baby, and it's an adaptation of the namesake 2013 novel that Helen Fielding wrote.

Fielding has written the screenplay with Abi Morgan and Dan Mazer. The film was released on February 13, 2025, on Peacock. The synopsis of the film as written on IMDb reads:

"Bridget Jones navigates life as a widow and single mum with the help of her family, friends, and former lover, Daniel. Back to work and on the apps, she's pursued by a younger man and maybe - just maybe - her son's science teacher."

Renée Zellweger is reprising the titular character for the fourth time in a row. Over the course of the franchise, the character has gone through many changes in her life. The character revolves around a British woman who has a diary where she mentions all the things she wants in her life. Zellweger is known for her role in films like Jerry Maguire and Nurse Betty, among others.


2) Colin Firth as Mark Darcy

English actor Colin Firth is reprising his role as Mark Darcy. While the character dies four years before the latest movie, he has made a comeback in this film but only in the beginning. Initially, Darcy is one of the two guys fighting for Jones's attention. She eventually chooses him over the other. Firth is known for his performance in films like King's Speech, the Kingsman franchise, and Pride and Prejudice.


3) Hugh Grant as Daniel Cleaver

Hugh Grant once again plays the role of Daniel Cleaver. In Bridget Jones's Baby, the main character goes through a situation where the viewers feel like he has died. He is a good friend of the titular character and has a pivotal role in the story. The two did date in the first film, and their bond eventually became tighter. However, their relationship is cut short after he has an affair with someone else. In his long career, Grant has done several rom-coms like Notting Hill and Love Actually.


4) Emma Thompson as Doctor Rawlings

Emma Thompson portrays Doctor Rawlings, who is a gynecologist. The character was introduced in the third installment when Jones was trying to have a child, and she kept giving good advice to Jones throughout. Thompson has been a part of several successful films throughout her career, like Love Actually and Stranger Than Fiction, among others.
