From the world of John Wick, Ballerina is arriving and bringing a fair few faces back with her. Charon (Lance Reddick), Winston Scott (Ian McShane), and the Baba Yaga (Keanu Reeves) himself will assist Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) in the quest to find her father's killer.
We can tell what to expect after seeing the spin-off film's trailer; that would be some high-octane action from the Ruska Roma associate. Regarding the timeline, the events in this story will occur between John Wick: Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4.
The principal photography of the film began in November 2022 and entered postproduction by February 2023. Although there are no details on sequels, Erica Lee, who is co-producing the film alongside Chad Stahelski and Basil Iwanyk, says that there are plans for it. The release date for the movie Ballerina is June 6, 2025.
When is Ballerina coming out?
Ballerina was supposed to be here with us as it was initially scheduled to come out on June 7, 2024. However, it was delayed to June 6, 2025. But that's a good thing given the delay came following the news of Chad Stahelski's deal with Lionsgate to oversee the franchise, as Deadline reported.
For now, it is the only film to be released by Lionsgate in June this year. Although the distribution studio has a long list of movies coming in the year including Saw XI, Now You See Me 3, Michael, and more.
What is the story of Ballerina?
There's a little information out there regarding the story but it can give us a pretty good idea about the film. Keanu Reeves made it better for us to understand this during the CCXP convention in Brazil. He explained,
"She lost her father at a young age, and she doesn't really know what happened. Only that someone came into the house and killed her father, who had a tattoo. And as we know in John Wick, if you have a tattoo, something's going on."
Although Ana de Armas is debuting in the franchise, her character isn't. Fans get a glimpse of the Ruska Roma associate when John visits The Director (Anjelica Huston) in the third film to get a safe passage to Casablanca. Unity Phelan portrayed the cameo in it.
Who plays who in the film?
A lot of familiar faces will be reprising their roles in Ballerina, beginning with Lance Reddick as Charon in his last performance as the character. He took his last breath on March 17, 2023. Then Ian McShane will reprise his role as Winston Scott, owner of the New York Continental.
Keanu Reeves will return as John Wick, as we saw him in the trailer. By the looks of it, both of them are likely to join hands against evil forces, much like the way we saw him paired with Halle Berry's Sofia Al-Azwar in Chapter 3.
Norman Reedus, who played Sam Porter Bridges in Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 1 and 2, will appear as Daniel Pine, whose involvement as a character is undisclosed at the moment.
Other cast members of the film include:
- Anjelica Huston as The Director
- Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Nogi
- Abraham Popoola as Frank
- Togo Igawa as Captain
- Robert Maaser as Dex
More people are there in the cast but their roles are yet to be disclosed.
