Avengers: Doomsday plot is already the talk of the town (& many heroes might meet their fate)

It has begun. Avengers: Doomsday is now officially in production, and we are a little over a year away from seeing a whole bunch of Marvel characters in action, all leading to Avengers: Secret Wars, which will conclude the Multiverse Saga. Details for the plot are, as always, thin on the ground; the MCU is making sure it remains that way.

We cannot exactly read the comics and know what lies ahead of us, as Anthony Mackie recently shared that the film is a culmination of multiple comics. We have a couple of Secret Wars comic books already, one from 1984 and the other from 2015. The latter is likely to be a source of inspiration for the next Avengers films, but Time Runs Out sets the stage for it.

We are likely to see Doctor Doom doing something about the incursions, but fans should know that certain characters die in the Secret Wars. Given that the story deviates heavily in Marvel movies, it is worth pondering over who the Russos might be thinking to kiss goodbye and when.

Death could be round the corner in Avengers: Doomsday

There's Chris Hemsworth, but we don't know if he's the same Thor from the Sacred Timeline or some other universe. He could die; at least, an old version of him dies in Secret Wars. That could be the same for other characters returning from Marvel's past.

We already have 26 new characters for Avengers: Doomsday, and while characters like Professor X and Magneto are in there to bring nostalgia, they could be the first ones to go. The chances of that happening are high for the former one. Marvel has already done that a fair few times.

Time Runs Out does see a major entity vanish, the Living Tribunal. We saw him in a blink-and-miss scene in what should be called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' best sequence. But not a lot of our heroes we are seeing, though Shuri is one of them who sacrifices herself.

But we have to consider the fact that this is likely only half the cast, and we may probably see more. Robert Downey Jr. hints at the same. And it is all but confirmed that Avengers: Secret Wars will be a bigger event than Avengers: Doomsday, so the Multiverse Saga's conclusion might need some room for new ones, just saying.

It can be a revengeful or heroic tale fans think

A villain, an anti-hero, a hero, or more, Robert Downey Jr.'s Victor Von Doom can be anything, but he will be the focus in Avengers: Doomsday. There's a lot of buzz around it lately, and we came across a couple of fan theories that appeared interesting.

There's one that sees Doctor Doom in a revenge tale where, in his universe, he was Tony Stark only, just that his plans with Ultron didn't really go according to the plan, which began his revengeful journey and eventually led him to become a multiversal threat.

Another fan draws on what Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez shared recently. This one includes a mention of Kang.

This one's interesting as Avengers: Doomsday is taking shape, owing to Marvel's decision to let Jonathan Majors go following the legal doldrums. Before that, we saw the Council of Kangs at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) which set up the now-cancelled Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

Although Majors is happy to return if Marvel wants, as he told USA Today in one interview. He said,

"Tom Hiddleston, loved working with that guy. Loved working with Paul Rudd. Loved working with Gugu Mbatha-Raw. I love the industry so much, and now I’m in the place where I can feel the love from them and actually express my love for them."

However, even if he is returning, he is likely to play a small part in Avengers: Doomsday.
