Are Meg and Jennifer Tilly related? All we know about the family of 1995 Oscar nominee

Jennifer Tilly is one of those rare Hollywood talents who has explored various ventures throughout her career. The legendary actress received an Oscar nomination for her role in the Woody Allen movie Bullets over Broadway in 1995. Today, she is a professional poker player and a guest star on the reality TV show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Over the years, Tilly has become known for her distinctive voice and impeccable comedic timing. Fans have often wondered if she is related to Meg Tilly, another once prominent name in Hollywood. The simple answer is yes, these Hollywood legends are sisters.

In the recent episode of the real Housewives of Beverly Hills, titled, Caviar Catastrophe, the former Oscar nominee hosted an extravagant caviar party. However, the party took a dramatic turn between the two contestants.

But before the tensions flared, the contestants were seen enjoying a quite lunch. It was during this time one of the contestants suddenly turned to Tilly, and said:

"That's amazing, you were nominated for an Academy Award!"

To which Jennifer Tilly said:

"It was a very very very long time ago."

The admission garnered surprised reactions from the others seated at the table.

Jennifer Tilly went on to share that she and she sister are one of the only two pair of sisters, alongside Joan Fontaine and Olivia de havilland, to have both been nominated for an Academy Award. She also highlighted that the only pair of Chinese-American sisters to be receive this honor.

Jennifer Tilly, born Jennifer Ellen Chan, was born on 16 September 1958, to Harry Chan and Patricia Tilly. Her parents divorced when she was very young and both remarried. She is also widely known as a scream Queen, thanks to her iconic role as Tiffany Valentine, in the cult classic, Bride of Chucky.

Jeninifer Tilly was married to Sam Simon, the American producer and co-creator of the popular show The Simpsons. The pair wed in 1984 but later divorced in 1994. Despite their separation, the two remained close friends untill Simom's passing in 2015. Following his death, she shared:

"He was probably my best friend for 30 years. It seemed weird, once I wasn't saddled with being a wife and all the expectations that came along with being a wife, then it seemed like it liberated us to be really close. Because we were there because we wanted to be there."

Jennifer Tilly has been in a relationship with proffessional poker player, Phil Laak since 2004.

Back in 1995, it was uncommon for an actor to campaign for their own for the Oscars. When the now shunned Miramax Boss, Harvey Weinstein, refused to support her campaign, Jennifer Tilly took matters into her own hands, by promoting her role in the movie.

Her younger sister Meg Tilly, on the other hand, left Hollywood at the height of her career to embrace a more quieter, more "normal" life in Canada, while she focused on raising her three children. She recently returned to the stare in the Netflix film War Machines, starring opposite Brad Pitt.
