Another Simple Favor trailer teases Blake Lively’s return as Emily (and this time she has a master plan)

Another Simple Favor is a forthcoming film in the genre of dark comedy and mystery. A direct sequel to 2018's A Simple Favor, the film is directed by Paul Feig and it will be released on Amazon Prime Video on May 1, 2025.

Prior to its streaming release, Another Simple Favor had its world premiere at the South by Southwest Festival. The makers have released its trailer and it showcases Blake Lively returning as Emily Nelson and she has some plans. Here's the official synopsis:

Follows Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson as they head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily's extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman.

Another Simple Favor trailer released

Recently, the makers of Another Simple Favor dropped its official trailer on the internet. The two-minute and 20-second-long trailer begins with a short recap of the events shown in A Simple Favor. Emily is sent to prison by Stephanie and the two confront each other at the beginning of the trailer, with Emily asking for a favor from Stephanie.

Emily is now out of prison and asks Stephanie to be her maid of honor at her wedding. Surprisingly, Stephanie agrees to come to her wedding. As the trailer progresses, we realize that Emily has a master plan for the person who put her in jail. The video ends on a hilarious note as the viewers are tricked into believing that Emily poisoned Stephanie and threw her in the pool. Because of their previous strained relationship, viewers can expect something unexpected to take place in the trailer.

Another Simple Favor is directed by Paul Feig and written by Laeta Kalogridis and Jessica Sharzer. Feig has also co-produced it with Laura Fischer. Here is a list of its cast members:

The film is a sequel to A Simple Favor which was also helmed by Feig. Based on the eponymous 2017 novel, the film follows a vlogger who gets involved in the disappearance of her friend. Starring Kendrick and Lively in the lead roles, the film met with positive critical response and grossed $97.6 million at the box office.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in March 2024, Feig spoke about his apprehension of doing a sequel. He said,

“We worked this script forever. I tried to kill that project many times. It was terrifying."

He added,

“We threw out a whole script that was greenlit. I was reading the response from people who were so excited for a sequel, and I thought, ‘This is not what they want.’ So, we got together with the writers and threw out that 70 percent of what we had and then made it into what it is — only because Laura just kept saying ‘We have to do this.’ I didn’t want to fuck it up. So, I’m really happy about how it came out.”
