However, Anora's belief of Ivan truly loving her and standing by her gets shattered upon the arrival of Ivan's family. They condemn this marriage and cause a huge ruckus in Anora's life.
Anora has been shot in various locations across New York City, mainly in the South Brooklyn area.
Let us find out more details about the filming locations of Anora.
Anora filming locations: Where was the Oscar winner filmed?
1) Coney Island
Coney Island is a crucial location in the filming of Anora. As spoken to Hammer to Nail, director Sean Baker shared how Coney Island has been an important location for Anora even before writing the whole plot of the film.
Baker has revealed that he has previously filmed a fashion commercial feature for the brand 'Khaite' in that area, and ever since then, he has been interested in filming there.
Baker had also shed light on the actor Karren Karagulian's association with the location, who has been living in Brighton Beach since the 1990s. Baker reveals the relevance of its location in relation to the storyline as he spoke to CN Traveller:
"Karren Karuglian, who plays Toros in the film, we go way back. He's been in all my films. We've been talking about telling a story [set] in the Russian American community in Brighton Beach and Coney Island for 20 years now. We just couldn't figure out the plot—until recently. But it was the desire to shoot there that made this film. Number one: it’s culturally rich. Number two: it’s visually very exciting."
2) William's Candy, at Coney Island
In the film, there is a scene where Igor and Toros end up at a candy shop in Coney Island. A whole lot of mess happens at this candy shop as they try to retrieve information about Ivan since his friends work here.
This scene was shot in a candy shop named William's Candy. The shop has been in existence since 1941. In the filming of Anora, candy jars (fake ones) get broken in the process, during a very heightened scene when Anora, along with Toros and Igor, is trying to find Ivan.
As per the reports at NBC New York, the owner of William's Candy, Peter Agrapides, shared his feelings about the scene as he says:
"After I saw the movie, I said 'oh my god!' And we were finding that glass all over the place for months after that"
2) HQ KONY
The workplace of Anora has been shot at an adult entertainment club in New York City named HQ KONY.
As per reports at Decider, a club called Rosewood Theater was also filmed for some scenes in Anora.
3) Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas is the place where everything changes. It is the place where Ivan and Anora marry. For their wedding scene, Las Vegas Boulevard's Little White Wedding Chapel was shot.
As per reports at News3Lv, the president of the Chapel, Melody Willis-Williams, is looking forward to more shooting possibilities in Nevada. She says,
“Anything that helps our community and our industry.”
Along with Little White Wedding Chapel, some scenes of Anora were also shot in the Palms Casino Resort as well as the Fremont Street Experience.
4) The Mansion in Brooklyn

The grand, luxurious mansion of Ivan was filmed at this mansion in New York. Built in 1965, the mansion is up to 14,000 sq ft, with a 0.37-acre lot.
About the mansion, Sean Baker spoke to Variety as he explains:
It’s in Mill Basin, and it happened to be owned by a beautiful Russian American family who purchased it from the Russian oligarch it was designed for. They were proud of their home and wanted it shown on the big screen.”
As per reports in the New York Times, the filming in this mansion took around 21 days.
