Tom Cruise appears to be relaxing as Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’s release draws near. In the meantime, he decided to watch Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which has been making waves lately, especially for its performances. Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, and Miles Caton are all spellbinding audiences.
As Tom finished watching the film, he posted on Twitter (now X) with the following caption:
"Congratulations Ryan, Michael, and to the entire cast and crew. Must see in a cinema and stay through the end credits!"
Looks like another fan was spellbound here!
Just like it’s become a tradition for Marvel fans to stay glued to their seats until the screen goes dark, the latest horror flick demands the same. There are a couple of scenes audiences won’t want to miss. Here’s something interesting: Miles Caton, who plays Sammie in the film, recently shared with GQ Magazine about those scenes.
Critics are calling it a vampire movie for the ages

As of this writing, Sinners has received 319 reviews from critics, according to Rotten Tomatoes, and is maintaining a near-perfect 98% score — a milestone in itself. When it opened, it held a perfect 100. It’s hard to find a critical review that slammed the film, though a few are out there if fans want to hunt for that 2%.
Top critics have already weighed in. Kristy Puchko of Mashable writes in her review:
"Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan deliver a vampire movie for the ages."
As far as ABC News’ Peter Travers’ review is concerned, Sinners is by far the best film of 2025. He writes:
"It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen and the best movie of this young year."
Kyle Logan’s review in the Chicago Reader is likely to get moviegoers wanting to see the film. He writes:
"An awe-inspiring ode to what music means to communities and cultures."
Sinners could also mark the beginning of a new horror franchise if Coogler, who will own the rights to the film for 25 years, chooses to expand the story.
Sinners continues to dominate the box office

It looks like The Minecraft Movie has lost the top spot at the domestic box office for good, and Ryan Coogler’s film is now holding that position. Since its release, Sinners has consistently stayed at number one, opening on Friday with $19.2 million.
If we look at the weekends so far, it raked in $48 million during the first and $45 million in the second. During the second weekend, it was followed by Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, which was re-released on its 20th anniversary, making $25.2 million.
All in all, the vampire action flick has made $161 million globally, with $122.5 million coming from domestic audiences and $39.1 million from international markets. It has yet to break into the top 50 highest-grossing horror films, but that likely won’t take long.
As for how far Sinners can go, it would need to hit $705 million to become the biggest commercial success in the genre, a title currently held by Andy Muschietti’s 2017 film, It.
