The much-anticipated reboot of the 1997 horror of the same name, Anaconda, is soon coming to the theatres by the end of this year in December, during Christmas.
Directed by Tom Gormican, who has previously written Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024) and has also written and directed That Awkward Moment (2014), The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022), shall be directing the 2025 reboot of Anaconda, which is a blend of both comedy and horror.
After 9 years since the last release of an installment from the Anaconda film series, which was Lake Placid vs. Anaconda, back in 2015, this upcoming film shall mark the number 6th in the whole series.
The common thread that runs across in all the installments of the Anaconda movie series is about people encountering the deadly reptiles- the Anacondas, which eat up humans, and how they navigate their way around it.
When is Anaconda releasing?
Anaconda is slated to release on December 25, 2025, in the United States. It is distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing and is produced by Andrew Form and Brad Fuller under the production banners Columbia Pictures, Fully Formed Entertainment, and TSG Entertainment.
The makers of Anaconda have been making unique promotional strategies for the film, which include the cast of Anaconda, Jack Black and Paul Rudd joining together in a promotional video where they raise up the anticipation for the film, blending their impeccable comic timing and goofiness, as Jack Black says:
“I’m excited for you to see this. It’s gonna be a big, big f**king snake, and it’s gonna rip!”
In the video, Paul Rudd also sheds light on the contents of the film as he says:
“You want to get scared? You want to laugh? You want to celebrate with your friends or maybe you're alone and sad and have nobody but just want to forget about that, it's coming out on Christmas in 2025."
What is the plot of Anaconda?
According to IMDb, the plot of Anaconda reads:
"A group of friends going through mid-life crises. They decide to remake a favorite movie from their youth but encounter unexpected events when they enter the jungle."
As per this plotline, and also according to the reports at Variety, this upcoming Anaconda installment reportedly does not follow the same story as Luis Llosa's 1997 classic of the same name, although no official synopsis has been revealed by the makers yet.
Who all can we see in Anaconda?
The Golden Globe-nominated actor Jack Black, who has previously starred in films including High Fidelity (2000), School of Rock (2003), King Kong (2005), to name a few, is joining hands with Paul Rudd. Rudd has also received a Golden Globe nomination and is well known for his work in films and TV series, including F.R.I.E.N.D.S (1994-2004), Living With Yourself (2019), Only Murders in the Building (2023-2024), and for his role as Ant-Man in the Ant-Man film series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Along with Jack Black starring as Doug McCallister and Paul Rudd as Ronald Griffen "Griff" Jr., we have a promising cast of actors, including:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jack Black will be seen as a wedding videographer, who was actually a former filmmaker, along with Paul Rudd portraying the role of an actor who, even though he dreams of landing a break in Hollywood, does not seem to be any closer to that possibility.
Along with them, we have Selton Mello, who shall be essaying the role of an Animal Wrangler from Brazil, along with Steve Zahn and Thandiwe Newton, who are cast as a pair of long-time friends.
The makers have officially made the announcement of their pivotal cast members by dropping a video of a song sequence, which is a very unique promotional strategy to follow. They are keeping the anticipation as well as the personal connect alive since the beginning of the year.
