Before getting into the details of all the records that Kendrick Lamar broke in the last 12 months, let's talk about the most hyped American event, the Super Bowl Halftime show that took place on February 9, 2025, in New Orleans.

It was without any doubt one of the most anticipated Super Bowl Halftime shows of all time. The last time the event was this talked about was in 1993, when the king of Pop, Michael Jackson performed pulling in 133.4 million viewers.

This year Kendrick Lamar broke that record by pulling in 133.5 million viewers and took everyone by surprise. A report by Fox Sports states that the Super Bowl game had an average of 126 million viewers, indicating that Kendrick's historic performance pulled in more viewers than the actual game.

Lamar showed how electrifying a Super Bowl Halftime event could be. Besides his impressive, pumped-up performance, everyone was equally excited to see Samuel L. Jackson dressed as Uncle Sam and Serena Williams join Kendrick on stage. Who would have thought one would be witnessing Samuel L. Jackson in an Uncle Sam costume that too at the Super Bowl Halftime?

For those who missed or haven't got the chance to watch Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime performance, you can check out the whole 13-minute 24-second video on the NFL's official YouTube channel.

Interestingly, the show took inspiration from PlayStation video game themes. It used unique storytelling, different gaming references, and symbolism. If you look very closely the stage design almost appears to be like a PlayStation gaming controller.

Kendrick not only beat MJ's 1993 Super Bowl Halftime record but he broke a bunch of other records too

The 37-year-old American rapper, Kendrick Lamar is regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of all time. Apart from winning several music awards he also won the Pulitzer Prize for Music and became the first artist outside of the jazz and classical genres to receive such a prestigious honor.

Having said that, if you're not a Lamar fan yet, you just might be after finding out all the records he recently broke.

The official X handle of NFR Podcast, which is widely known for posting Hip-Hop/Rap news, just uploaded a new post that gives you a detailed idea of all the records Kendrick Lamar broke in the last 12 months. Check it out below:

It is shocking to think at the age of only 37 how a single artist can do such wonders. Kendrick's recent addition to all the above-mentioned records is that he amassed a whopping 88.8 million monthly listeners smashing Drake's record with 75.4 million. This happened as a result of his most-awaited Super Bowl LIX Halftime performance.

Kendrick Lamar and Pusha T have been buddies for a long time. Back in 2013 they also collaborated on a song called Nostalgia which turned out to be a hit. On Tuesday 11th February 2025, Pusha T took to his Instagram story and showed love and support for Kendrick. His IG story said:

"Mission accomplished...Congrats."

As a result of their long friendship Pusha T has always respected and admired Kendrick's work. He always praised him as a strong lyricist and also called him the "Lyric king", at a panel discussion in 2024 at Revolt World. If one thinks about the name, it is quite true and fitting for an artist like Kendrick.

Just like Kendrick's feud with Drake, Pusha T also had a beef with Drizzy back in 2018. However, funnily the one thing they happen to have in common is that both of them won. The 47-year-old Virginia-based rapper rose to fame in 2000 and was a part of the rap duo Clipse. He formed the duo along with his older brother No Malice. Their most popular records are Hell Hath No Fury and Lord Willin'.
