Captain America: Brave New World is set to hit the big screens within a matter of weeks. While Steve Rogers is not a part of the universe, Sam Wilson's The Falcon will take over the baton of Captain America. This means that there is "no Falcon movie." It brings fans back to a friendly feud between the Brave New World star Mackie and his Avengers: Endgame co-star, Tom Holland. Back then, Holland's Spider-Man had his standalone movies, but Mackie's Falcon did not.

While their comments may be just friendly banter, the fans are bound to discuss and theorize about it. They might also want to know the dynamic between the actors. So, Mackie recently decided to clear the air and reveal that they have no qualms.

Here's what Mackie said during his recent interview with Fandango:

"Well, Tom and I have talked in private. And you know, I went to the UK, and we had a conversation, and I had to let him know what I was thinking, and now we good, and we drunk some Bero hero, and you know, chopped it up. And I'm very excited about how he feels to be made public, 'cause he was correct. There wasn't a Falcon movie, there's a Captain America movie. It wasn't a personal comment. It was a character comment... We talked about it. We talked about it. Now we good."

Tom Holland's 'No Falcon Movie' comment explored ahead of the Captain America: Brave New World release

The Marvel Cinematic Universe thrived due to its charismatic heroes like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. Whether it was Robert Downey Jr or Chris Evans, they brought their A-game to these roles. Their contribution helped their standalone MCU movies. Tom Holland's Peter Parker was a later addition to this list, who also got his standalone projects like Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).

Anthony Mackie first appeared in MCU as the Falcon in 2014's The Winter Soldier. However, unlike Holland, he did not get to lead his solo movie. Now, he is at the front and center of Captain America: Brave New World, although not under the same monicker. He is not Falcon, but Captain America fighting Harrison Ford's huge, boiling-hot Red Hulk.

That wasn't the case in 2018 when Evans' Steve Rogers was holding Captain America's vibranium shield. So, during 2018's ACE Comic Con, Holland jokingly mentioned how there is "No Falcon Movie." At the time, Mackie joined in this friendly banter to say that he hadn't seen Holland's Spider-Man: Homecoming. Whether intentional or not, their real-life dynamic is reflected in their character's relationship in Captain America: Civil War.

Mackie recently returned to this topic during the 2024 Comic-Con International: San Diego as he arrived to promote his solo movie, Captain America: Brave New World. This time, Mackie jokingly fired the shots and said:

"Yeah, Tom Holland, f**k you!"

Despite this back-and-forth, Mackie recently cleared that he and Holland are all good. Mackie's Captain America is now set to lead the ship in Captain America: Brave New World as he tries to pacify Thaddeus Ross, aka Red Hulk. Of course, he has big shoes to fill (or a big shield to hold in this case!)

However, Captain America: Brave New World is Marvel's only solo project in 2025 since Thunderbolts* and Fantastic Four will be co-led by a bunch of superpowered creatures. So, even though there is no competition, Mackie is getting his due in one way or the other.

Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled to be released on 14 February 2025 in the United States.
