Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler gave an interview to GamesRadar+ to talk about Sinners. During the interview, the duo hinted at the possibility of a sequel. Jordan said that he is open to a sequel, but it would depend on Coogler. The latter said that it's his wife, Zinzi, who is calling the shots. Here's what Michael said,

"I mean, you know, I'm always… I'd be up for it. Not saying he wouldn't, but he calls the shots!"

In response, Coogler said:

"I call the shots? Zinzi?! I mean, no, for me, my favorite movies are ones where it feels like a world was happening before, and a world is gonna happen after."

Jordan concluded the conversation by saying,

"Yeah, that you care about the characters, and that you wanna see what happened to 'em? What happened before?"

The above-mentioned comments hint that the duo is keen to return with a sequel. If the film manages to do well at the box office, then the chances for them to return will increase. In the past, Coogler could not return for Creed sequel as he was helming Black Panther 2. So it's possible that maybe either of them might also not get involved.

Earlier, the director hinted that he might not go ahead with the sequel. He said,

"I never think about that. I’ve been in a space of making franchise films for a bit, so I wanted to get away from that. I was looking forward to working on a film that felt original and personal to me and had an appetite for delivering something to audiences that was original and unique."
"I wanted the movie to feel like a full meal: your appetizers, starters, entrees and desserts, I wanted all of it there. I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention."

Sinners is written and directed by Ryan Coogler; the producers include Ryan, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian. The storyline takes place in the 1932 Mississippi Delta and follows twin brothers as they return to their hometown. Here's a list of its cast members:

  • Michael B. Jordan as Elijah Moore (Smoke)/Elias Moore (Stack)
  • Hailee Steinfeld as Mary
  • Miles Caton as Sammie Moore aka Preacher Boy
  • Jack O'Connell as Remmick
  • Wunmi Mosaku as Annie
