A Minecraft Movie is riding on the waves of box-office success, and looking at the current projections, it does not show a sign of stopping any time soon. The film was released on April 4 in nearly 4,263 theaters and earned almost $163 million on its debuting weekend. It surpassed the opening weekend collection of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which reportedly earned $146 million within three days of its release.

Based on this trend, Deadline previously projected that this video game adaptation will cross $65 million on its second weekend, between April 11 to 13. However, their latest estimate reveals that the Jack Black starrer can cross $80 million during this time. Variety projects a similar figure. The publication notes that the ticket sales will lead it to earn somewhere between $65 million and $82 million.

According to Box Office Mojo, A Minecraft Movie has already crossed $350 million at the box office worldwide, putting it in the third spot of top-grossing movies from 2025. The first spot is taken by the Chinese fantasy animation film Ne Zha 2 and the second spot by Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World; the latter of which is still running at the theaters. However, it doesn't pose a serious threat to Warner Bros and Legendary Animation’s collaboration.

Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World and Disney's Snow White will likely not affect A Minecraft Movie's box office numbers in its further theatrical run; since both projects have blown off their steam for one or the other reason. Unlike them, some other releases might eat up a portion of the video-game adaptation's crowd on its second weekend.

On 11 April, four notable films hit the theaters: A24's Warfare, Universal & Blumhouse' Drop, 20th Century Studios’ The Amateur, and Angel Studios' The King of Kings. Deadline has shared the preview screening earnings for these titles, which put The King of Kings and The Amateur at the top with $2 million estimates, followed by Drop at $1.4 million (including Monday to Wednesday previews), and Warfare at $1.2 million. These numbers also depend on the earliest showtimes on Thursday, which offers Angel Studios' film an edge over other titles.

The number of theaters also affects their estimates, with The Amateur screening at nearly 3400 theaters as opposed to Drop and Warfare in roughly 2,600 theaters. According to reports from Deadline and Variety, Drop is expected to reach $6M-$7M on its debut weekend, Warfare $7M-$9M, whereas The Amateur and The King of Kings are expected to earn around $12 million to $14 million during those three days.

Based on the aforementioned figures and the reviews, these four movies pose a minor threat to A Minecraft Movie's weekend's box office collection.

The King of Kings comes from the studio that previously brought Sound of Freedom to the screens. Variety reports that the studio has started an initiative for their animated film, which offers free tickets to children along with one adult ticket. It is aimed at increasing the family audience for the films. So, it might affect A Minecraft Movie's core audience of younger audiences.

The other three 11 April releases are thrillers, two of which are rated PG-13. However, their expected audience does not necessarily overlap with the Jack Black starrer. So, they will most likely not eat up a big chunk of its audience.
