Superman is the talk of the town right now and we're not surprised! After much anticipation, DC Studios have released the trailer for their new movie. Slated to be released in 2025, the brand-new trailer introduces its new cast filled with young and talented faces.
David Corenswet is set to replace Henry Cavill in the exciting role of Superman / Clark Kent. Besides him, the movie stars Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel) as Clark Kent's colleague, Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (Juror #2) as Supervillain, Lex Luthor.
The new trailer also offers glimpses into other characters from the DC Universe. Nathan Fillion (Castle) stars as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus) as Hawkgirl, and Anthony Carrigan (Barry) as Metamorpho.
Much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this 2025 movie is set to reboot the DC Universe in a multi-character fashion. So, don't be surprised if you see multiple super-powered heroes in the same DC movie!
While the cast reboot has caught everyone's eye, there are more reasons to be excited about this trailer. It is filled with easter eggs that you may not notice at first glance.
Here are the easter eggs from the new Superman trailer that you might have missed:
1 Stagg Industries
Lex Luthor is Superman's arch-nemesis. So, his evil organisation, LutherCorp is bound to appear in the new trailer. Besides, the trailer briefly shows Stagg Industries, another influential corporation in the DC Universe.
It belongs to billionaire Simon Stagg, whose daughter falls for Rex Mason. After a shocking incident, Rex gets turned into the scarred super-powered creature, Metamorpho.
2 Krypto the Superdog
Krypto, wearing a bright red cape, swiftly arrives to check on its dear superhero friend. While the DC comics feature this character, James Gunn has a personal connection to this adorable dog. During his interview with Josh Horovitz, Gunn mentions his pet dog to be an inspiration behind Krypto.
Gunn's love for animals doesn't come as a surprise. Previously, he has championed the cause of animals through Rocket Racoon's character in his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
3 Guy Gardner (Green Lantern)
Nathan Fillion, known for his roles in Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy, is set to star as the Green Lantern Corps member, Guy Gardner, In the trailer, he appears in a bowl-cut throwing a green beam while Superman is seen recovering from the negative public perception toward him. As Gardner, he nails the smugness of this despicable character to the T!
4 Jonathan Kent
The new Superman trailer offers a bleak picture of the caped superhero's world. However, it also shows the tender side of his personality. As meek Clark Kent, he appears in The Daily Planet newspaper office.
He is also seen in The Kent Farm with his father, Jonathan (Pruitt Taylor Vince), lovingly known as Pa Kent. The trailer shows them sharing an emotional moment as a father and a son.
5 Metamorpho
Besides the Stagg Industries, the Superman trailer briefly shows Metamorpho / Rex Mason, who loves Simon Stagg's daughter. As the name suggests, he can completely turn into different forms and alter his appearance. Anthony Carrigan, who is set to star in this iconic role, has also played a villain against Batman in the 'Gotham' series.
6 Kelex
The Superman trailer shows many super-powered characters from the DC Universe including Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, and Mister Terrific. Toward the end, it shows another important character as Superman gets emotional while next to a broken droid. This robot is presumably Kelex from Krypton, who takes care of the Fortress of Solitude.
7 Fortress of Solitude
The new trailer begins on a depressing note as it shows the wounded superhero lying in the snow. After a series of easter eggs, it offers a glimpse of what looks like the Fortress of Solitude. Superman learns about his origins at his place, filled with huge ice shards. They serve as his private headquarters in the Arctic.
