Jane's Addiction, the infamous rock band who reunited for their now-canceled tour after a 10-year hiatus, comprises singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery. The band started in 1985 and was one of the pioneers in alternative rock in the 90s.

Right off the bat, the band's first album, Jane's Addiction (1987), had Warner Bros. Records looking. This band's first farewell tour in 1991 paved the way for Lollapalooza to become the perennial alternative rock festival that we know and love today.

This article looks at Jane's Addiction's top 6 songs based on Spotify streaming numbers.

This was Jane's Addiction's first song to clock in on the Alternative Songs chart, reaching its highest at #6. The second version, as part of the Nothing's Shocking album, is the most famous one. The title is an ode to Jane Bainter, Farrell's ex-housemate. It talks of her rocky history with drugs, s*x, and men.

"Jane says, "I'm done with Sergio" / He treats me like a ragdoll" / She hides the television / Says, "I don't owe him nothing, but if he comes back again / Tell him to wait right here for me or / Try again tomorrow I'm gonna kick tomorrow / I'm gonna kick tomorrow"

The song also clocked in on The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

"I've been caught stealin', once when I was 5 / I enjoy stealin', it's just as simple as that / Oh well, it's just a simple fact / When I want something, man, I don't wanna pay for it / Now I walk right through the door / And I walked right through the door / Hey, alright, if I get by / It's mine, mine, all mine / Hey!"

In June 2018, Perry Farrell told Professor of Rock that the song was about illicit substances. He noted that it was about climbing up to a high and how difficult the descent can be.

"I was comin' down the mountain / I met a child, man, she had pin eyes / We had the same opinion / We had the same opinion / She was holding it back, it hurt so bad / Jumping out of my flesh and I said / You better cash in! Cash in now, honey / Cash in now"
