People who are in a relationship especially, want to watch something romantic that would make them feel good. Films that feel like a warm hug are especially popular and in demand by people on this day.

Casablanca is considered a classic romantic film for many reasons and should be your go-to if you are exploring Valentine's Day movies. The film is not just a love story but also an exploration of World War II through its lead characters played by Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart. It is about an expatriate named Rick Blaine (played by Bogart) who has to help a man escape from Casablanca. He also falls in love with that man's wife Ilsa (Bergman). Casablanca was released in 1943 in U.S. and became a major success. Over the years, it has been regarded as one of the greatest pieces of cinema. You can enjoy it on Max.


2) The Notebook (2004)

The Notebook is an adaptation of the namesake 1996 book penned by Nicholas Sparks. It stars Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling playing Allison Calhoun and Noah Calhoun respectively who fall for each other in the 1940s. Directed by Nick Cassavetes, the film was released on June 25, 2004, and met with mostly mixed reviews, grossing over $100 million. Since its theatrical release, The Notebook has become a much-talked-about romantic film. It is available to enjoy on Netflix.


3) Titanic (1997)

No Valentine's Day movies list is complete without the mention of this romantic disaster film. This James Cameron written-directed film follows Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet) who come from different socio-economic backgrounds and board the RMS Titanic. The two fall in love in the maiden and last voyage of the doomed ship. The film became a massive critical and commercial success, and also earned 11 Oscar wins from 14 nominations. It can be viewed on Disney+.


4) Notting Hill (1999)

Roger Michell directed this romantic comedy film that was released in 1999. A script by Richard Curtis, this film follows a Hollywood movie star, Anna Scott (played by Julia Roberts), who meets a British bookstore worker, Will Thacker (Hugh Grant), and their romance. The film was a critical success and also became one of the highest-grossing British films. It will make for a warm viewing on Valentine's Day and can be seen on Netflix.


5) Call Me By Your Name (2017)

Call Me By Your Name is based on the eponymous novel by Andre Aciman and stars Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer in the lead roles. The film is about a 17-year-old boy falling in love with a 24-year-old guy. It was released on November 24, 2017, and became a major hit. The film also won the Best Adapted Screenplay award at the Academy Awards from four nominations. It is considered by many to be one of the best romantic films in recent years.
