5 shocking claims made by Wendy Williams in Saving Wendy

(1) Wendy Williams calls her stay 'prison'

At one point in the documentary, the film's subject, Wendy Williams, spoke about her stay in New York City and labeled it a prison because she is not allowed to go out on her own at any time. She also stated that she has been out only for appointments on two occasions in a month. Upon being asked about it, she said:

"No, no. I am not allowed to go out. I can call you, but you can’t call me.”

(2) Wendy was denied her iPad

In Saving Wendy, she also spoke about asking Sabrina Morrissey, her guardian at the facility, for an iPad for a long time. The former talk show host said:

"But an iPad – can I please have my telephone back? Can I please be able to call, you know, my family? What is the problem with me calling and talking to friends of mine? They’re not allowed to come in here – friends of mine. You know what I’m saying?”

(3) Wendy is staying at a memory unit

The hour-long documentary also showcases that Wendy has been put into a facility for elderly care. Patrons in this unit suffer from severe memory problems.

The documentary also revealed that Wendy has been spending her time in one room for a while and is isolated there. Talking about eating alone in her room, she said:

“I eat lunch and dinner in my bedroom. I don’t eat out there with the people that live here just ’cause it’s so god—n depressing.”

(5) Wendy's son is responsible for her guardianship

The most shocking revelation in Saving Wendy came from the fact that her guardianship is attributed to her son Kevin Hunter Jr. He continued to churn out a lot of money from her account without even telling her. He even introduced her to a woman he was seeing who belonged to the same age group as Wendy. He also used her to take out some more money from Wells Fargo.

Wendy also stated that she lives in a large building with a lot of facilities, including a gym. However, she is not allowed to go anywhere without an assistant. The elevator on her floor can only be accessed by a key. Most of her belongings are also put into a unit that is out of her access.
