Mindhunters is a film that enjoys a cult following even after many years of its release. This Renny Harlin-directed film is in the crime slasher genre and was penned by Wayne Kramer and Kevin Brodbin. It revolves around a bunch of FBI profilers who are assigned to track a serial killer during their training. However, they start getting tracked by a real killer who might be a part of their group.

Mindhunters had its premiere at the 2004 Brussels Fantastic Film Festival and it was eventually released in the United States on May 13, 2005. If you have enjoyed it, here are five films that you might also enjoy.

You're Next is in the same zone as Mindhunters and it's a slasher film directed by Adam Wingard. Sharni Vinson and Nicholas Tucci star in this film. The plot is about a bunch of people meeting as a part of their family reunion when they are targeted by masked men. The film was well-received and ended up grossing over $26 million. It provides the same thrill as the 2004 film and has some well-etched characters. You can enjoy it on Amazon Prime Video.

Identity should be on your list if you enjoyed the thrills of Mindhunters because of the twists in the tale. It is about a group of people who are stranded at a hotel one night where everyone starts dying one by one. The ending is twisted and will keep your mind boggling even after the credits have rolled. The film came out on April 25, 2003, and since then enjoyed a strong fan following; it has grossed over $90 million. Identity can be rented on Fandango.


(3) Seven (1995)

Seven, also known as Se7en, is a crime thriller by David Fincher who established his name as a big-shot director. The movie is about a detective, who is about to retire and teams up with his new partner to track a serial killer who is targeting people based on the seven deadly sins.

Seven remains a powerful film and it should not be missed by the genre fans. The way these sins are incorporated into the story makes it a worthwhile experience. The ending, in particular, is surely going to send chills down your spine. The film minted around $327 million at the box office and it can be viewed on Netflix.


(2) Taking Lives (2004)

Taking Lives is the story of a terrifying serial killer who takes on the identity of the person he kills. This D.J. Caruso film has Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke in the lead roles along with Kiefer Sutherland in a pivotal role. Unlike other entries in this list, this one remains overlooked by fans. If people love Mindhunters, they will be delighted to watch this film because of the terrifying serial killer in the story. Upon its release on March 19, 2004, the film received mixed reviews and grossed around $65 million. Taking Lives can be viewed on Amazon Prime Video.

Hush is a film that proves one can make the most of a story with the bare minimum. The plot is simple: a deaf-mute girl is living in her remote house alone when a masked man starts terrorizing her. Mike Flanagan, who has made several films and shows in the horror space, has co-written and directed this slasher film and it was well-received; the film has a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and it made around $13 million. It also inspired several remakes in different languages. Hush can be rented on Amazon Prime Video.

All these films are in a similar realm as Mindhunters. While they are different from each other, all these stories manage to evoke a similar kind of emotion as the 2004 crime thriller.
