Tom Hanks' portrayal of Forest Gump is nothing short of brilliant. He embodied the simplicity and emotional vulnerability of his character very profoundly. One scene that portrays how excellently Tom Hanks understood his character is when he introduces himself to a stranger on the bus. Deviating from the script, Tom Hank goes on to say “My name is Forrest Gump. People call me Forrest Gump.”
This change is so small but highly significant to the character of Forrest Gump.
