Actor Joaquin Phoenix has given one of the greatest unscripted performances in the movie. In a scene involving a confrontation between him and his sister, he shifts from the script and shouts at her in a chilling manner, the lines “Am I not merciful?”.
The precision and passion with which he delivers his line leaves the audience with goosebumps.
