Fernanda Toress’ nomination at the Oscars was surprising as she became the only second Brazilian to be nominated for the Best Actress category. Her mother was the first Brazilian actress to get a nomination at the Oscars for this category in 1999. Fernanda Torress won the Golden Globe Award for the Best Actress category for the movie I’m Still Here. The movie is based on Marcelo Ruben Paiva’s memoir of the same name.
