Tom Hanks made history with his role in Forrest Gump. His performance was vulnerable, sincere, and striking. One great scene in the movie is when he introduces himself, saying “My name is Forrest Gump. People call me Forrest Gump.” It was later found that this line was unscripted and was improvised by Tom Hanks. It was such an innocent and authentic improvisation that added to his character and was loved by the audience.
