In the 1994 fan-favorite adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel, Christian Bale was a major reason for bringing the romantic, free-spirited character of Laurie (secretly in love with Jo) into the spotlight, apart from the March sisters and their dreams, hurdles, and passions.
