5. Johnny Dresden in Why Would I Lie? (1980)

Why Would I Lie? is part of his early career, in which he plays Johnny Dresden, the smoothest conman around, using charm to manipulate people around him. Even though this is a lesser-known film, Macht glimpses his future on-screen persona: strong in personality, charismatic, and effortlessly likable. His ability to command the screen comes through even in this early role. He is bringing a lot of youthful energy to the role, proving that even at the beginning of his career, his natural charisma was impossible to ignore.
