As Denny Colt, aka The Spirit, Macht took on the bold, visually striking role of Frank Miller's comic adaptation. The character-a suave, mysterious detective with a knack for survival was a perfect outlet for Macht to show range in a stylized, noir world. While the film wasn't widely praised, Macht's portrayal really captured the heart of a hero caught between light and darkness. His performance stands out for its playfulness and charm along with a vulnerability that makes this anti-hero such an interesting person.
