In Archangel, Macht plays Nathan Ford, a historian, who sets out on a quest to uncover the truth behind the mysterious death of a Soviet leader. The movie is a mix of historical intrigue and personal discovery; Macht captures both the intellectual curiosity and the emotional weight that Ford carries during his search. In portraying a man looking for some larger truth, Macht had shown that he could navigate very complex roles that required introspection in subtle harmony with action. His later work found fertile ground in the historical and suspense genres, of course.
