Dobby's unusual reasoning makes him an involuntary comedy star. In Chamber of Secrets, the house-elf tries to save Harry by throwing a cake at the guests of his aunt and uncle and then punishes himself for it. His innocent and misplaced tactics become increasingly funny as he tries every trick in the book to prevent Harry from going back to Hogwarts. By the time Dobby releases his aerial lamp attack, people are laughing and amazed at how hard he's trying.
