This is one of the period comedy dramas set in the 1950s, through which Miriam 'Midge' Maisel's story unfolds. A housewife who grows into a stand-up comedian after her marriage fails finds adjustment to newfound freedom in the world of men-dominated stand-up comedians. Being famous for fast-paced dialogue, period-perfect costumes, and sharp wit, this gives very distinct mixtures of humor and drama. But for Midge, it's much more developed in terms of storyline with the characters and their relationships as she tries to get ahead in her dreams.
