In the actual comic book storyline, Legion, the son of Professor X accidentally kills his father when he tries to destroy Magneto. In the "What If?" storyline, without Legion killing both Magneto and Xavier, the mutant world would lose its power completely. Without their leaders, the X-Men and “Brotherhood of Mutants” broke apart so the entire mutant society devolved into a chaotic conflict between emerging dominant factions. The fundamental political structure along with social relations between humans and mutants was altered permanently in the “Marvel Universe”.
