Akira is a visually stunning and thought-provoking movie however it is not suitable for kids for numerous reasons. Based on a post-war dystopian city of Neo-Tokyo where the lives of two friends change when one of them is captured for government experiments. The themes of government corruption, loss of innocence, and existentialism have been deeply explored in Akira making it unsuitable for children along with its graphic violent scenes and explicit content.
