James Purefoy shot a few scenes as the masked vigilante V but left V for Vendetta, citing difficulties in working under the stifling mask and creative differences with the Wachowskis. He was replaced by Hugo Weaving, who re-shot all of Purefoy's scenes. Purefoy is reportedly not credited for his scenes in V for Vendetta, and many fans speculate that Purefoy's voice and movements appear in the final cut.
