Winona Ryder was booked for Mary Corleone's role in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather Part III but quit on the shooting floor after a day due to extreme fatigue and other health issues attributed to overworking. Ryder's leaving compelled Coppola to get the services of his daughter Sofia, whose performing style received terrible reviews. Later, Ryder even joked that missing the role may have been a blessing in disguise since the film failed to meet the expectations set by its predecessors.
