Charlize Theron transformed into Aileen Wuornos in Monster. This is one of the most impressive transformations from an actor to their role. She changed from looking glamorous to heavy and lumpy, with many prosthetics on her and little makeup at all to resemble the rugged, hard exterior Wuornos had acquired. In the process of changing appearance, Theron completely channeled the inner turbulence that Wuornos presented on screen, thus creating a disturbingly realistic performance. Her commitment won her widespread recognition, including an Academy Award for Best Actress, as she put this notorious figure into life in a very human way.
